Wednesday, May 25th, 2016Lisää kevään aikana Liminganssa tehtyä / Also this was made in art school in Liminka:
We made woodcuts: polished the panel, sketched and cut thee picture, spread the color and print the picture. There were
two great pressing machines, but I preferred to print by hand, using brush or spoon. It was fun to experiment with layers
of different colors differently mixed and printed – and then with Chinese water colors.

Today we celebrate internationally women’s rights. In Finland, the government and the trade unions just decided to strengthen
our economy by cutting 30 % of the extra months fee for all employees in public sector – who mostly are well educated women
working in kindergartens, schools, health services, libraries, already getting low salaries.
“But I can pay for my wife. And when we get our economy going well, so can also the other men.”

This is a old piece which I put here, because I happened to promise it to the best group of short story readers.
The first pages in Finnish tell, how we discussed about Katherine Mansfield’s story and how I drew it.
In stead of Mansfield’s time, I made it happen at 1920’s – it was more fun to draw art deco.
